‌There are so many ways you can get involved and help support your theatre.

  • Are you interested in theatre?
  • Would you like to see shows free of charge?
  • Do you enjoy meeting members of the public?
  • Could you spare a few hours each week?

If the answer to all these questions is yes, the Palace Theatre has opportunities to join its fantastic team of Volunteer Ushers.

There are opportunities to meet performers, invitations to special events and most of all a chance to meet new friends and socialise with this wonderful group of people.

To find out more about becoming a member of this invaluable team, please visit the Box Office or email palace@nsdc.info

For Volunteers' Week 2020, we're celebrating the incredible people who make up our team of volunteer ushers. They've been sharing stories of their experiences and favourite memories of working at the Theatre. Read them by clicking on the names below.

A Message From Our Volunteer Manager, Andrea

"My name is Andrea Smedley and I am lucky enough to hold the position of Volunteer Manager for the National Civil War Centre, the Resource Centre, the Palace Theatre and Newark Castle. From 1-7 June it is National Volunteer week and due to the situation with Coronavirus we are unable to celebrate it and thank our volunteers in the way that we normally do. So as we can’t celebrate together, I would just like to say on behalf of all of the staff at Heritage, Culture and Visitors a massive, massive thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers. You all do a fantastic job and we never cease to be amazed at your commitment, skills, knowledge and the enthusiasm that you bring to your roles. You are at the heart of everything that we do and we couldn’t do it without you. We look forward to the time when we can open our doors to the public again, but in the meantime, stay safe and well and know that we are thinking of you."
